Fable Morales … are they good enough?

I wonder if there would be one who hasn’t heard about a single fable story in their entire life. One might have come across them as bed time stories or lesson learnt as a part of education or while watching TV etc. The fable stories so intricately cultivated into our life’s that they have become as the moral checklist for oneself.

During childhood we listen to those tales believing as if really a forest with speaking animals do exist. As we grow up we do realise that how the stories were cleverly written to melt down the involved morals into our minds.

But is it so easy to apply those morals in our day to day life? The clear resounding answer would be a big NO.

In the fables a wicked personality is clearly made apparent by their looks or characterisation. From the starting of a story a character is destined to be wicked and he ends up wicked with a failure on his face.

But is it the case in a real life scenario? I wonder not. In the real world a person tends to be good at some point and turns out to wicked and at later point of time.

All the fables clearly show that good people always win in spite of all the odds they have and they face.

But is this so clearly apparent where a good and bad itself haven't got a clear partition? Once good is bad for someone else and once bad is good for some others.

As we start growing and facing the real world there would a plenty number of incidents where the morale we learnt doesn't actually fit down to explain the reasons behind them. We are left to wonder why it happened and satisfy ourselves by saying that it might be results due to deeds done in past life or in a long run we can see results that are in accordance with the morale or sometimes attributing it for the luck and so on.

It would be bad to realise that this fable stories even attribute for some negative mindsets. Like say the odds that set off as we came across a oddly looking person and apparent charm of a good looking person. Even though if bad looking happened to a genuine person and the good looking one a cunning.

Like the Ant and the Grasshopper story which concludes out saying "Hard work always pays off".
Is
this really true? You can observe people around who strenuously work to achieve a minimal growth in life and at the same time people who lucratively spend time and still manage to end up their life in luxury.

More interestingly, I have come across some recent version of The Tortoise and the Hare story which was extended further to explain some management principles. The initial story had morale of "Slow and steady wins the race". The original was extended a bit to convey

- That fast and consistent will always beat slow and steady;
- Work to your competencies;
- Pooling resources and working as a team will always beat individual performers;
- Never give up when faced with failure;
- Compete against the situation. Not against a rival.

On a whole the real life is so intricately weaved web where morale cannot fit down straight. We do have to bend and twist the morals.

Unix User Profiles

I know that most you are aware of these. But i would like to reiterate them.

As the name conveys profiles are something where we have description of our own choices and so.
And in the same line Unix profiles are those where a unix user can have the default environment choices.

After the user logs in as a part of starting up the user's shell, two profile files are executed.
The first is the system default profile located at "/etc/profile", which is common for all the users and run by every user.Second one is the ".profile" in the user's home directory which is only run by the user who owns it.

The intention of these profile files is to set up the environment each user will need to use the system.

Before a logged-in user gets a shell prompt to start working, a robust profiles will usually display messages about the system. They will also setup $PATH so that the users can access basic UNIX System programs.

So if you want to set your own customised environment you can do it at $HOME/.profile. As the changes done here will effect only a particular user.

Go to user's home directory and look for the .profile file. Don't worry if you don't find one you can always create your own file.
Add the desired commands so as to have your own environment.
From the next login you can see the changes.

A typical user profile would look like:

$HOME/.profile

# envvars
export DISPLAY=localhost:0
export ENV=$HOME/.kshrc
export PATH=$HOME/bin:$HOME/tools:$PATH:/sbin/:/usr/local/bin/mh:$HOME/accounts/binexport
PRINTER=ljps
export SHELL=/bin/ksh
export TEMP=/tmp
export TMP=/tmp
export TMPDIR=/tmp

# shell options
set -o bgnice
set -o noclobber
set -o notify
set -o trackall
set -o vi
set -o vi-tabcomplete

umask 077

trap '. $HOME/.sh_logout; exit' 0

What is Happiness....

From my childhood at every stage of my life , I used to here or say to myself that if I do this I shall become happy.

In my studies I used to feel / I was made to feel that if I score good grades then I would be happy. I used to dream of becoming a topper and the happiness I would be experience after such an achievement. Finally the day came,But i felt like the happiness I felt was far below than which I dreamt.

In my career I always used to feel that if I get a good job then I would lead a very happy life. That day too came. But still the feeling the experience of happiness was less than what I dreamt.

And days went by like this feeling and asking to myself what actually is happiness....

Now after long many experiences, I began realizing that happiness is not something that is materialist which you can quantify and also can say that some logical sequence of steps would lead us to it.

To say in the words of Democritus:

"Happiness resides not in possessions and not in gold; the feeling of happiness dwells in the soul."

Suddenly, I began to realize that all these times I was happy but just that I haven't realized that I was happy. And I was happy even if failed to fulfill my dreams.

So, whenever in doubt that if you are happy or not recollect the word of David Burns:

"There is only one person who could ever make you happy, and that person is you."

AdSense

The new jargon in the net industry which some of you might have already been familiar with.
AdSense is a contextual advertisement program run by Google.

In the word’s of Google “Google AdSense matches ads to your site's content and audience, and depending on the type of ad, you can earn money from clicks or impressions.” In simple terms it is a way for the website owners (publishers) to quickly add advertisement to their WebPages. Google will decide which ads to be placed on the website depending on the website content (Contextual Ads).The advantage of this program is that now your pages has ads which are much in relation with the contents of your pages and much less annoying for the readers and higher chances of getting clicks.

How to Start with AdSense:

To participate in AdSense program, publisher has to register themselves with the Google.

The requirements are:

1. A published website with content according to Google policies and a valid URL.
2. A valid payee name and mailing address.

Here a website means anything where in which you can edit the HTML content of the pages. So you can attach ads with your blogs also.
Be noted that not all languages are yet supported for AdSense program.

The application process usually takes 2-3 days of time to get evaluated. So be patient.

Tips for getting AdSense:

These days because of growing interest among the publishers for AdSense and multiple applications from them Google is not readily accepting the applicants.
Following tips will help you in getting an approval:

1. Google allows only 1 AdSense account per person. So be careful before applying.
2. In case of applications from India, they generally reject duplicate applications from the same address even though this 'same address rule' is not officially published by Google. So, if another person in the same or similar address have applied for AdSense earlier, it is a good idea to use a different, family relative's address in your Google AdSense application.(Please don't ask 'how do I know if another person from a similar address have already applied ?'. Use your common sense and figure out. For example, if you are using a hostel address, there is a possibility that another person living in the same hostel would have used the same hostel address). Google does not usually care about duplicate applications from same IP Address. Better to maintain different IP Addresses
3. Don't apply for AdSense account on the same day you created a site. Wait at least 2 weeks.
4. Make your own Blog with Bloger.com or any blogging site (Prefer Blogger).(In case if you are not having any.)
5. Put and update daily some good articles related to education or online money making jobs or anything you want. Keep it as original as possible.
6. Apply for AdSense. Be careful to provide all the details accurately.
7. Wait a while for the account to get approved.
8. If the account haven’t got approved
9. Try to resister with your family member's name.
10. Try to make your new AdSense from another computer and with other mailing address.
11. After account is approved try to put some topic like cars, bike, insurance etc to get more revenue.

Some other info:

In situations it would be rather difficult to drive traffic to our won websites. So in such a situation you can join some website where there is AdSense Revenue Sharing program. In this sites all you are allowed to maintain your own profiles and you can contribute to the sites and contents and depending on the ads in your contents you will are paid.

Some good sites which I personally am aware of are:

IndiaStudyChannel
IndiaReviewChannel
Go create a account there and start earning money.
